My air conditioner is only a year old and it's leaking water badly. It's a window mounted air conditioner and I'm afraid the leaking water is going to cause damage to my exterior walls. Do you guys have any ideas or tips?

Frozen pipes may be somewhat common in the wintertime. If your pipes do freeze, you want to check and see if the pipes are busted or cracked. If your pipes are frozen, you can use a hair dryer to try and thaw out the pipes. However, if this will not work, you will need to call in a trustworthy plumber who may either try and thaw the lines out another way or they may just end up replacing the section of the line that is broken.

There are two, one on each side of the toilet, closet bolts which hold the toilet to the floor. If there are caps over the bolts, remove or pop them open. Using a small crescent wrench unscrew the nuts from the bolts. Alternate side to side when unscrewing this will be much more important when reinstalling the water line repair bolts but alternate anyhow.



Plumbers are at a high risk for health problems. This is because they are regularly exposed to many different illnesses and infections. They can contract psittacosis and histoplasmosis from the regular contact they have with animal droppings. Plumbers also see regular exposure to harmful chemicals and elements like lead and the other chemicals that can be found in the plumbing materials they work with on a regular basis.

Blisters in asphalt or felt roofs only need to be treated if they contain water or have caused the roof covering to leak. Press the blister to check if moisture is expelled. If so, it must be sealed with a patch.

If the area around the fan isn't clean and dry, or if dust or any sort of growth has accumulated on the blades or inside the exhaust duct, it may be a warning sign of excess moisture build-up. Clean the water line repair fan and area well. Then double- check that the fan is operating properly.

I bought a new kitchen sink from a brand name building supply company and hired a plumber to install it. After he had left and I filled up my new sink to wash my first load of dishes in it, I noticed the water level had dropped. You wouldn't want to feel my shock and imagine the angry words that came out of my mouth! I couldn't believe that I had spent $300.00 on a brand new sink that couldn't hold water!

A large plumbing job, such as re-piping or installing additional fixtures, may require a permit. Check with your city's department of building and safety before asking for estimates, and avoid any plumbers who are reluctant to comply with regulations.
